Well happy Christmas, friends! What a year this has been.
I started 2013 feeling nauseous. Love that morning sickness! Yes, pregnancy was the overarching theme this year, as I spent ¾ of the year growing a child! I was one of those pregnant women whose hormones went absolutely bananas. I apologize if you tried to call or visit, especially during the first half of the year. I was probably curled up in bed sobbing. Yep, pregnancy and unemployment will do that to a person.
Ah, unemployment. I got to navigate the mysteries of signing up for government assistance this year! Y'all, that is a hot mess. How do people scam it? I couldn't even figure it out for real! If you also found yourself there this year, my sympathies!
Things really turned around in April. I was hired by Magic Broadcasting, which was awesome on two counts: I was going to be paid again, and I got to continue doing what I love to do with a couple of my best friends.
August brought a HUGE change; Miss Maya Margaret was born on August 17th. Never in my life have I felt so thrown for a loop! I lived life with no one to REALLY worry about but me for 31 years. Suddenly, there's a whole person dependent on me! Scary and amazing at the same time. The last 4 months I've spent with her have been eye opening. I love her to pieces! For those of you who haven't seen her yet, just check out my Facebook. I'm quickly becoming one of THOSE moms who post pictures all the time of their baby, even though they all kind of look the same.
My husband Christopher is doing well, still obsessed with acquiring ridiculously overpriced softball bats! He is studying to become a teacher, something I can see he is passionate about and that makes me happy. I do feel bad for Chris though, as my sex drive is still non-existent post-baby. Hopefully it'll return next year!
My mom has been an integral part of this year as well, since she moved down from Cleveland to help us with the baby, and be a close part of her life. It can be crazy sometimes, living with my mom again after 13 years of living away from her. But without her I think we'd have lost our minds by now. For real.
We've laughed, cried, loved, and grown this year. Here's to a wonderful 2014!
